Model of the World
As individuals & throughout our lifetime, we create our norms and values. This happens via anything you can imagine: when you are a born and grow up, at school, via our parents, in our careers and in the environment we live in. These norms and values are true for you and these are an individual’s total representation of reality. But, this can be influenced, if needed.
When you face an issue, a challenge, a problem, you tend to see it as such, because of your norms and values. Via the NLP philosophy, which asserts that there is a connection between neurological processes, language and acquired behavioral patterns, norms and values can be changed to achieve specific goals in life. In other words, the Model of the World (the first NLP presupposition), can be broadened.
Important to know, is how we create our norms and values. This happens via the Communication model:

1) External stimulus (seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting, smelling)
2) Filter of this stimulus (generalize, leave out, transform)
3) Internal representation
4) Mood & Psychology
5) Behavior
