What is the Golden Circle?

A trigger to start thinking differently…

The Golden Circle is a way of thinking which is completely opposite then the way of thinking we are your used to. What the opposite way of thinking actually says, is that you, we, an organization, etc., actually need to think about why we do things first, in stead of what we do…

Think about it, if someone asks you what you do for a living, you probably tell them your title, your role, your position in an organization, or something in that direction. This is what you do, some rational thing, which is easy to describe in words. But, we almost never tend to think (consciously) about why we do what we do, which is only emotionally driven. Based on passion, drive, intrinsic motivation, and difficult to describe in words, as it’s based on feelings. But note, this part, the Why, actually makes that we love what we doAnd therefor makes that we get result in what we do.

So, why do you do what you do?

Who created the Golden Circle?

www.simonsinek.com

The Golden Circle is a simple yet powerful model detailed out by Simon Sinek, mapping out whyhow and what distinguishes a certain organization or product from others. Simon Sinek demonstrates with the model that the why is the most important element in success. His motto is “Start with why” & finding, knowing and living your own why is actually a kind of prerequisite for experiencing more joy.

As this applies to teams and organizations, every individual also has his or her own why. Why do you do what you do, why do you believe in what you believe. It is what gives you energy, motivation. It’s a passion. Important: The how and where (or in what) that passion will express itself (in succession of each other) follows later, in whatever role or activity.

I advise you to look at below inspiring video and find out in more detail, how the why works (approx. ~18m.). It really helped me!
